The initial vinyl pressing of General Dome sold out. Yay! To celebrate, we have repressed 500 copies on 180 gram vinyl—an "audiophile quality" edition, which we think the band's fans might appreciate. We are taking pre-orders now for this item which we expect to have in stock in early March. The 180 gram edition will also be available in stores but note there are no special markings or stickers on the cover indicating the higher quality pressing, so you will have to order from Brassland to be sure of getting this edition. This vinyl album includes download codes so you can acquire a copy of the record in MP3 format & a bonus download of the Function Falls EP.

Buke & Gase
"On each of their releases to date, Buke & Gase have never been
anything less than absolutely thrilling." - Pitchfork
Brooklyn-based BUKE (byook) & GASE (gace) are Arone Dyer on the "buke" (a self-modified six-string former baritone ukulele) and Aron Sanchez on the "gass" (a guitar-bass hybrid of his own creation). Both of them play double duty, also mobilizing a small army of foot percussion. These instruments are then filtered through various pedals, amplifiers and homemade inventions to create a surprisingly complex sound. Dyer's supermelodic vocal lines weave through the beautiful yet unwieldy musical matter, balancing light and dark, calamity and control. Their musical multi-tasking makes for live shows that are visually unexpected and sonically explosive.
Listen to a song from General Dome (2013):
Hot on the heels of their recent "Function Falls" EP (vinyl and digital download only), our favorite self-invented duo Buke & Gase returns with General Dome. Pitchfork has already named one song, "Hiccup," Best New Track and called it a "mobilising, bodily cry."
Listen to a song from Function Falls (2012):
The Function Falls EP is a four-song limited-edition release. Three of the songs on this EP were recorded after the completion of their second full-length album, General Dome. Consider it a preview of the band's sonic evolution. Where the full-length continues to explore the band's contrasting musical dynamic of chaos and control and their ever increasing songwriting chops, the tracks on Function Falls are about form in its purest sense, and are perhaps best understood as a study in contrasting textures. The fourth track is a cover of "Blue Monday" by New Order, originally recorded for a special for the NPR program, Radiolab.
Riposte is the debut album of Buke & Gase. Their music is loud yet folky, polyrhythmic yet melodic. DustedMagazine.com called them part of a tradition where "the avant-garde, the handcrafted, the anti-authoritarian" overlap -- yet they have have received unbelievable amounts of love & support from the classical music community and press outlets like NPR (Tiny Desk Concert, All Things Considered, several best of the year lists) and The New York Times. The best of both worlds, Buke & Gase are spiky and accessible.
